She has exhibited in many venues and her artwork was chosen for the Clarenville Chamber of Commerce Christmas ornament (In Nan’s Kitchen) as well as purchased by the provincial government (Island Spirit). Along with two fellow artists, she has also co-published a Newfoundland coloring book.
Kathy’s art ranges from capturing the moment in realistic detail to depicting an idea in a graphic or whimsical way. Her media of choice includes pastels, acrylics, and pencils and, more recently, she has been experimenting in clay, scratchboards and multimedia. Her artwork is inspired by or connected to her cultural heritage, concepts and memories.
“Art, and the challenge of creating it, is the cheapest therapy I know. It is, for me, as essential as breathing.”
