Glovertown and Area Arts Cooperative (GAAC)
Glovertown and Area Arts Cooperative (GAAC) is a group of local area artists which formally associated in 2007 and grew from the Glovertown Arts Club (1995) to include members from the region from Gander to Clarenville, and Wesleyville to the Eastport peninsula. Though a recently formed group, they are in contact with about 50 + individuals who they count in their numbers. At the centre there is a circle of about 8 who currently form the nucleus and keep the artistic directives in motion.
Artistic use of the old Diamond property has become the directive of GAAC. It is the hope of all people associated that the property will eventually be utilized by many local and regional artists and artisans. This can be achieved through enrolling these artists and artisans in the GAAC membership.
GAAC allows for a wide association among artists and it is generally held that amongst so many that GAAC will be able to provide exhibitions, both into and out from other galleries, networks and contact information, studios and resources, and greater arts exposure to students within the local schools systems. GAAC has the privilege of giving the artistic direction to the House of Diamonds; it is responsible to see that the house is being utilized in manners suitable to the mandate of furthering the arts for local communities. In this they work hand in hand with the House of Diamonds Corporation (HOD).
